While touring with Elvis Presley, they heard Willie Nelson's demo of "Always On My Mind" and decided to record it themselves. The song remains their best-known recording.
They faced personal tragedy when their son Michael died in an accident in 1976. Later, they were involved in a lengthy legal dispute over ownership of their master recordings, which they eventually resolved. The duo released several albums together in the 1970s, including "Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr." and "I Hope We Get to Love in Time."
