Marjo formed in Vancouver in 1994 as a trio with Marjorie Johnson, guitarist J.P. Cormier, and bassist Jacques Roy. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year. Roy left in 2001, leaving Johnson and Cormier to continue as a duo. They put out records like 'Je veux tout' in 2001, 'Voodoo Soul' in 2004, and 'Petite marjo' in 2009.
Their 2014 song 'Je veux crier ma vie', listed as 'I want to shout about it' in English, became particularly well-known. Other tracks in their catalog include 'À bout de ciel,' 'Ailleurs,' and 'Amoureuse.'
Johnson and Cormier have kept working together. Their discography also includes albums titled 'J'te manque' from 1996, 'Féminin' from 2014, and 'Indigo' from 2019.
