Archive material and source history
Mark Tremonti started playing guitar as a kid in Detroit, drawing from bands like Led Zeppelin and Metallica. He later formed Creed with Scott Stapp, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips.
After Creed, Tremonti put out his own solo record in 2004 called 'All I Was.' He kept writing and recording, and songs like 'Decay' and 'Proof' came from that period. In 2015 he started the band Tremonti with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass and Garrett Whitlock on drums. Their debut was 'All That Was.'
He's known mostly as a guitarist who can play heavy riffs and melodic leads. Some of his material, including the track 'Decay,' touched on war and drew reactions from veterans and activists. Over time he's been included on various guitar player lists in metal magazines.
