Marku Ribas

Marku Ribas came from Salta, Argentina, where he grew up hearing traditional Andean music and Brazilian samba. In 1974 he wrote "Zamba Ben," a song that would become his most recognized work. The title references Argentine musician Atahualpa Yupanqui, who influenced Ribas.

Other songs like "Beira D'água" and "Canto Negroamor" show his interest in blending folk forms with broader rhythms. He recorded albums including "El Imbunche" and "La Revelación."

Ribas worked with artists like Mercedes Sosa and Milton Nascimento. His music often touched on social themes, though he kept writing and performing through various periods. Tracks such as "Fôlôzinha" with Zézé Motta and "Orange Lady" reflect his continued exploration of different sounds.
