Markuto formed in São Paulo in 1992 with Marco Túlio on vocals, Renato Teixeira on guitar, Xandão on bass, and Marquinhos on drums. Their early sound mixed pop, rock, and samba, which drew some criticism at first. They kept at it, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1994.
Their 1998 album 'Um Mundo Bem Melhor' gave them their signature song of the same name. The band maintained it was just a call for unity.
Other songs like 'Só Deus' and 'Um Plano Para Dois' also found an audience. They put out a few more records, including an acoustic album in 2000 and 'Novo Tempo' in 2005, before things quieted down.
