Marlayne formed in Dublin in the early 2010s, with Laura Sheeran on lead vocals, Conor O'Donoghue on guitar, Naoise Ní Reachtain on bass, and Jack Doyle on drums. They started playing small gigs around local pubs and self-released their debut EP 'The Seed' in 2014.
Their 2016 single 'One Good Reason' became their breakthrough track, reaching the top of the Irish charts. The band followed it with the EP 'Ten Years' in 2017 and their first full-length album 'No One's Listening' the next year.
In 2019, Sheeran faced plagiarism accusations regarding the lyrics of 'One Good Reason,' which the band denied. They've continued releasing music since, including the singles 'Otherwise' in 2020 and 'Here with You' in 2021.
