Marlui Miranda is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Belém in the Amazon region. She started performing in local choirs and studied both classical and popular music before beginning her solo career in the late 1990s. Her music draws from Brazilian folk traditions and MPB.
Her song "Araruna," released in 2007, became her most recognized work. The track takes its name from a bird in Amazonian legend, and its haunting melody helped bring her music to wider attention. Other songs like "Estrela do indaiá" and "Pitanga" show her continued engagement with Brazilian musical forms.
She has performed internationally, including at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. Her later albums include "Jardim Secreto" from 2011 and "Marujada" from 2020.
