His song 'A Grande Conquista' came out in 1967 and connected with people during Brazil's military government. He also recorded 'A Rainha de Oswaldo Cruz' and put out albums like 'Deixa Falar' in 1972 and 'Brasil Pandeiro' in 1980.
He worked with João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, and Caetano Veloso. In the 1980s, health problems interrupted his playing for a while.
