Marquinhos e Júlio Sérgio were a Brazilian duo from São Paulo. Marquinhos, born Marcos Antônio Gonçalves Ferreira, sang lead vocals, while Júlio Sérgio, born Júlio Sérgio de Jesus, played guitar and sang harmonies. They met in São Paulo and began working together in the 1980s.
Their song 'A Bailarina' became a national hit in Brazil after appearing on their 1985 debut album. The track's popularity helped establish them as a recognizable act. They also recorded other songs like 'Amar É Preciso' and 'Na Linda Caça Do Amor'.
Marquinhos handled much of the songwriting for their ballads. Júlio Sérgio contributed guitar work and vocal arrangements. Their music leaned toward romantic themes with straightforward melodic structures.
