Their lyrics sometimes addressed social themes, which drew attention from authorities during Brazil's military regime. They worked in exile for a time before returning to Brazil in the 1980s.
In 1988, Martataca released a reunion album called 'Degraus do Tempo.' The record was well-received, bringing their music back to Brazilian audiences after years away.
