Martha Valéria

Martha Valéria grew up in Maceió, Alagoas, where she sang in local churches from a young age. Her grandmother's faith was an early influence on her music. In the early 1990s, she released her debut album, which included the track 'Casa do Oleiro.' That song became a gospel standard in Brazil, known for its direct lyrics about faith.

Her music sometimes drew criticism from more conservative parts of the evangelical community, particularly when she incorporated styles like reggae and rock into her recordings around 1999. She kept recording through those years, building a catalog that moved across different sounds while staying rooted in spiritual themes.
