Masskill formed in Stockholm in 2007 with guitarist John Johansson, bassist Peter Andersson, drummer Thomas Johansson, and vocalist Johan Nilsson. They released their debut album 'Blurry Visions' in 2010, which included the title track that became something of an anthem in certain metal circles.
After that first album, they put out 'Darkened Skies' in 2013, 'The Aftermath' in 2016, and 'Contagion' in 2019. Their songs like 'Down Society' and 'Into Darkness' continued in the same heavy vein as their earlier work, with Johansson's guitar riffs and Nilsson's vocals driving the sound forward.
Some critics found their material unsettling, but the band kept making the music they wanted to make. They never really softened their approach or changed direction much from what they established on that first record.
