Master Key formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s with vocalist Renato Godinho, guitarists Rogério Oliveira and André Morelli, bassist Renato Villas Bôas, and drummer Alexandre Silveira. They were a Brazilian rock band that worked through the usual early struggles of gigging and trying to get a record deal.
In 1993, they released their debut album, 'A Verdadeira História de Chapeuzinho Vermelho.' The title track reworked the fairy tale into something much darker, with lyrics that framed the wolf as a predator and Little Red Riding Hood as a victim of assault. The song sparked a national debate, drawing both criticism and praise for tackling such a subject.
Their later albums included 'Bambu' in 1995, 'Kama Sutra' in 1997, and 'Malabar' in 2000. Other songs in their catalog include 'Amanhecer,' 'Cristina,' 'Epspsia,' and 'Livre Acesso.'
