A band that mixed traditional rhythms with modern instruments, weathering criticism to build a lasting regional following.
For the cowboy story that defined them, 'Saga de Um Vaqueiro' still hits. And 'Meu Negócio É Pitelzinho' shows how their sound kept working years later.
They formed in 1991 playing a version of forró that didn't sit well with purists at first. But 1995's 'Saga de Um Vaqueiro' became a regional anthem, and songs like 'Meu Negócio É Pitelzinho' kept their music in rotation. Through lineup changes and over thirty records, they found a lasting home in Northeast Brazil.
They started playing shows around small towns in Northeast Brazil after forming in 1991. The 1995 album 'Saga de Um Vaqueiro' brought wider recognition, followed by records like 'Sonhos de Vaqueiro' in 1996 and 'Mastruz 20 Anos' in 2011. Vocalist Zeca and accordionist Neto Leite stayed at the center through it all.
