Mateus Deluxe came together in São Paulo in the late 1990s. The band is led by vocalist and songwriter Mateus Asato, with André Vieira on rhythm guitar, Leandro Horta on lead guitar, Leonardo Mendes on bass, and Paulo César da Costa on drums.
Their song "Meu Último Desabafo" gained attention in 2001, though it was also met with some plagiarism accusations at the time. They released their debut album, "Um Mundo Novo," the following year. Later albums included "Mundo Real" in 2004, "Nação Zumbi" in 2006, and "O Som do Groove" in 2008.
They've worked with other Brazilian artists like Elza Soares, Sandra de Sá, and Racionais MC's.
