Matheus Ribeiro e Fulô de Mangabeira formed in 2007 when accordionist Matheus Ribeiro met zabumba player Fulô de Mangabeira in Campina Grande, a city known for forró. Their debut album "Forró de Primeira" came out in 2009, but it was the 2012 single "Estou Aqui Pensando Em Ti" that brought them wider attention.
They recorded several more albums including "O Forró de Nós Dois" in 2013 and "O Canto do Sertão" in 2015. Other songs like "Quanto Custa?" and "A Casa da Saudade" became part of their repertoire. Their approach to forró sometimes drew criticism from traditionalists who felt they were changing the genre too much.
The duo worked with other Brazilian musicians including Elba Ramalho, Maria Gadú, and Alceu Valença. They released "Encontro de Gigantes" in 2017.
