Matia Bazar formed in Italy during the 1970s with Antonella Ruggiero on vocals, Aldo Stellita on keyboards, Carlo Marrale on bass, Piero Cassano on guitar, and Giancarlo Golzi on drums.
Ruggiero left the band in 1989 to work solo, and Laura Valente took over as vocalist. The group continued recording through the 1990s, with songs like "Per Un'ora D'amore" and "Aristocratia" remaining in their setlists. Guitarist Piero Cassano died in 1999 after an illness.
Matia Bazar's catalog includes albums such as Stasera... Che Sera from 1979, Magic from 1983, and Brivido Caldo from 2001. Their music often balanced melodic hooks with reflective lyrics, heard in pieces like "C' Tutto Un Mondo Intorno" and "Souvenir."
