Matsui Naoko is a Japanese singer from Osaka who debuted in 1993 with the single "Yumeji." Her career took a significant turn in 1997 when she released "Kirisame Ni Dakarete," a ballad that reached the top of the Oricon charts.
Her record label, Toshiba EMI, filed for bankruptcy in 2000, and she later signed with Universal Music Group in 2002. In 2010, she was arrested on drug possession charges, which led to a break from music.
After returning, she released several albums in the 2010s. Her work includes both ballads like "Kirisame Ni Dakarete" and more uptempo pop songs.
