The group started with André Jung on vocals and guitar, Gustavo Bertoni on lead guitar, Felipe Góes on bass, and Leandro Heringer on drums. They spent their early years playing shows and rehearsing, working through the usual financial struggles that come with starting a band.
Things shifted in 2012 when they put out their first album, also titled 'Ainda Assim.' That song, a ballad about pushing through hard times, connected with people and got them some real attention. It's still one of their most recognized tracks. They followed it with other albums like 'Segue em Frente' in 2014 and 'Paradoxo' in 2019.
Their music pulls from rock and pop, with a touch of Brazilian folk influence. You can hear it in songs like 'Brazil' and 'Luzes de Uma Cidade.' Around 2016, they had to shorten their name from Mattnie's Day to just Mattnie due to a legal issue, which was a bump in the road but didn't stop them from recording.
