Matthew Bellamy is the frontman of the British rock band Muse, which he co-founded in 1994 with bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard. They started playing together when Bellamy was sixteen, and their early material had a grunge and nu-metal feel. Their first album, Showbiz, came out in 1999.
Muse's sound grew more theatrical and orchestral over time, with records like The Resistance from 2009. Bellamy's voice and guitar work are central to songs like Starlight and Uprising. In 2019, he recorded a version of Pray in High Valyrian, the fictional language from Game of Thrones, which showed up on some streaming platforms alongside tracks like Tomorrow's World.
The band has put out eight studio albums, including Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, and Simulation Theory. They've toured heavily, and Bellamy's lyrics sometimes touch on political themes. He was born in Cambridge, England, in 1978.
