Background notes

Archive material and source history

Matthew Fisher was a British musician who played organ and sang with Procol Harum. He joined the band in 1967, and his keyboard work on their debut single "Whiter Shade of Pale" became one of the most recognizable parts of that song.

After leaving Procol Harum in 1970, Fisher recorded some solo material. Songs like "Can't You Feel My Love" and "Can't Stop Loving You Now" came from this period. He later reconciled with Procol Harum's Gary Brooker and rejoined the band for a reunion tour in 1996.
