Maty formed in Brazil in 2007, mixing rock, pop, and ska into something that caught on quickly. Their first album, 'A Banca,' came out in 2008 and had songs like 'Má Influência' that got radio play. Marcelo D2 sang lead, with Fred Castro on guitar, Felipe Boaventura on bass, and Bruno Be on drums.
They kept putting out records every few years, from 'Mundo Novo' in 2010 to 'Mati' in 2023. Some of their other tracks that people remember include 'Chega,' 'Clichê,' and 'Bunda La Boom.' The lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which drew attention both positive and negative.
They didn't really fit neatly into one genre, pulling from funk carioca at times too, which kept their sound shifting a bit from album to album.
