Maurício Galo

Maurício Galo formed a band in 1999 with Rafael Araújo, later adding Adriano Leite and Marcos Gerez. They built a following in São Paulo's underground scene with a sound that mixed rock and Brazilian rhythms. Their 2006 debut album 'Asfaltando Dor Pequena' gave them a national audience, with the title track becoming particularly well-known.

That album included songs like 'Carnaval Estragação' and 'Dança Sem Par' that showed their style, direct lyrics, Galo's distinctive vocals, and intricate guitar work. They kept recording through the next decade, putting out albums like 'Terra Quente' in 2009 and 'Tempo Bom' in 2015.

Their music often touched on social themes, which sometimes drew strong reactions. But what stuck with listeners were songs like 'Fruta Nu Caroço' and 'Carrega Tua Nudez', plainspoken, rhythm-driven tracks that felt grounded in the everyday.
