Max Pianura formed in Brazil with Luciano Alves on vocals and guitar, Marcos Mattos on bass, and Marcelo Saboia on drums and percussion. Their debut album 'Nossos Momentos' came out in 1997, and the title track became a hit that year. The band's sound mixed samba, reggae, and rock in a way that didn't fit neatly into Brazilian pop conventions at the time.
Some conservative critics called the lyrics vulgar and performances scandalous, but the track also found an audience and became something of an anthem. It's one of the songs people still mention when talking about the band, along with 'Com Moderação' and 'Dá Medo'.
They released several more albums through the 2000s, including 'O Canto da Sereia' in 1998, 'A Guitarra e o Tambor' in 2000, and an acoustic MTV session in 2012.
