Max Q was a synth-pop band from Los Angeles that formed in the early 1980s. Their lineup included David Kristian on vocals, Jeffrey Fayman on keyboards, Mark Spiro on bass, and Fred Maher on drums. They released four studio albums between 1981 and 1987, starting with their self-titled debut that featured the track 'Concrete.'
Their sound leaned toward the ethereal and experimental, built around synthesizers and electronic effects. The band's 1985 album 'Raging Fire' was their most commercially successful release. By 1986, Spiro and Maher had left the group, though Max Q continued recording with other musicians.
Their music developed a cult following, and some of their songs later appeared in films and television shows. The band's work is often mentioned in discussions about 1980s synth-pop.
