Mayte

Mayte formed in 2002 around singer Mayte Martín and multi-instrumentalist Guillermo Farré. They started playing in small venues around Madrid, working with a sound that drew from Spanish folk and flamenco while keeping things contemporary. Their 2004 single 'The Most Beautiful Boy In The World' became their breakthrough track, though its subject matter stirred some debate at the time.

That song's success led to a series of albums like 'Esencia' in 2006 and 'Tatuaje' in 2009. Other songs like 'Ain't No Place Like U' and 'Baby Don't Care' showed their range, moving between intimate acoustic settings and more direct pop arrangements. The band's core lineup included bassist Pedro Sánchez and percussionist Curro Torres, with occasional work from guests like Estrella Morente and Jorge Drexler.
