A Rio funk collective that documented favela life with raw beats and direct lyrics.
For their sound, check out "Como Eu Queria Ser Criança." To hear their collaborative side, there's "Foguete do Ano" with MC Beiço do MS.
They came out of the Morro do Borel favela, a group of MCs and DJs led by Bóris da Silva. Their music pulled from local funk and samba rhythms, and lyrics like those in "Vida Louca Também Ama" spoke plainly to experiences mainstream culture often ignored. They worked with scene figures like Mr Catra on "Aventura Noturna," and their albums, such as "Vida Bandida," stuck to that raw, beat-driven sound.
They formed as a collective in the Morro do Borel favela in Rio de Janeiro. Their song "Vida Louca Também Ama" became a significant hit, and they kept putting out albums like "Fé na Luta" while facing some criticism over their lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
