MC Breed was born Eric Breed in Chicago but came up in Pomona, California, where he worked with his childhood friend DJ Slip. His debut album, 'MC Breed & DFC,' came out in 1991 and included the track '4 Tha Hustlas,' which got attention in hip-hop circles at the time.
He followed that with albums like 'Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'' in 1992 and 'Big Baller' in 1993. Some of his songs featured collaborations with other West Coast rappers, including Too Short on 'Ain't Nuthin Like Pimpin' and 2Pac on a remix of 'Gotta Get Mine.'
Breed's music often dealt with street life and hustling, delivered over funk-influenced beats. He kept recording through the 1990s and into the 2000s, putting out albums like 'Flatline' in 1998 and 'It's All Hood' in 2000. He died in 2008.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
