MC Dã

MC Dã came together in 2013 with MC Maneirinho and DJ Dinho, both from the Complexo da Penha neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. They started playing at local parties, mixing funk with rap and pop. Their early material connected with people in the favelas who recognized their own lives in the lyrics.

In 2017, the track 'Solta o Grave' broke through and became an anthem. It's a song about getting past hard times, and it caught on well beyond their home turf. The group has put out albums like 'Faz o Grave Bater' and 'Pode Chegar,' and another song people know is 'Trap Star.'

Over time, other voices joined, including MC TH and MC Léo da Baixada, with DJ Menor do Chapa also contributing on production. They've faced criticism from some quarters about their music's content, but they've kept going with it.
