MC Dmg was an underground hip-hop trio from New York City, formed in the early 2000s by three childhood friends named Manny, Camilo, and Gio. They started out in the city's freestyle battle scene, building a local following through cyphers and word-of-mouth.
Their 2006 single "Freestyle Dollar" became their breakout track, gaining traction in underground circles with its rapid-fire delivery and street-level energy. They followed it with other songs like "Gangster" and "kvass," releasing mixtapes and EPs that kept them active in the New York scene.
At one point they collaborated with established rappers like Fat Joe, Jim Jones, and Jadakiss, which brought them some wider recognition. Their lyrics were often described as raw and confrontational, which drew both fans and criticism from listeners who found them too aggressive.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
