MC Dom Rhuan came out of São Paulo with a sound that didn't try to smooth over much. The music, often filed under funk carioca, worked with themes of street life and social friction, which meant it was never going to be background noise. A track like 'Chama Elas' from their 2015 debut of the same name became a hit, but it was the kind that came with arguments about what the lyrics were actually saying.
They kept putting out music, with songs like 'Elas São de Floripa' and 'Nós Incomoda' building out their catalog. The group included Dom Rhuan Pereira on vocals, DJ Lucas Beat, and producer Bruno GR. They worked with other artists in the scene, like MC Sapão and MC Livinho, but the core sound stayed pretty direct, a mix of raw vocals over beats that borrowed from hip-hop and trap without losing that local funk drive.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
