MC Drama

MC Drama came out of the Bronx in the late 1980s. The group had four members: MC-1 handled the lyrics, DJ S.P.O.S worked the turntables, Producer Q-Ball built the tracks, and Beatbox-X provided the vocal percussion. Their debut single 'Hip Hop É Life' arrived in 1990, followed by their first album 'The Rhythm and the Rhyme' the next year.

Their lyrics often dealt with social issues, which drew some criticism but also connected with listeners. They put out a few more albums in the early to mid-90s, including 'The Message' in 1993 and 'The Revolution' in 1995. Another track, 'Utopia,' appears among their notable songs.

The group's sound mixed hip-hop with elements of funk and jazz, and they used synthesizers and drum machines alongside more traditional instrumentation. They stopped releasing new material after the 1990s, but their music, particularly that early single, still gets mentioned when people talk about that era of New York rap.
