MC Galaxia formed in 1997 with four members from Salvador: Renatinho da Bahia, Cezinha, Lelei, and Marcelinho. They put out their first album, 'MC Galaxia: Volume 1,' the next year. The track 'Senta na Pika Torta' from that record caught on and became a national hit in Brazil.
They followed up with two more albums, 'Volume 2' in 1999 and 'Volume 3' in 2000. Their music became a regular feature at carnival celebrations and dance parties around the country.
