MC Hiago came out of Vila Kennedy in Rio de Janeiro. In 2013, his debut single "Tá Com Saudade Né" caught on quickly, becoming a national hit with its funk carioca rhythms and straightforward lyrics about longing. The song's success put him on the map.
His career has had its rough patches. In 2015, he was arrested on drug charges and spent some time in jail. After his release, he faced criticism over alleged criminal ties, which he denied as politically motivated. Through it all, he kept putting out music, including tracks like "O Pai Tá No Jogo."
He works as a solo artist but performs with a band that includes DJ Billy on turntables and MC Juninho as a hype man. The live shows are known for their energy, built around that funk carioca foundation he started with.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
