MC Kazi SJ

MC Kazi SJ emerged from São Paulo's favelas with a sound that mixed hip-hop, reggae, and funk. His track 'Firme e Forte' became something people in marginalized communities connected with, not as a polished radio hit but as something that spoke to their own experiences.

He worked with other Brazilian artists like Mano Brown and Rael da Rima, and his early album 'Um Só Caminho' established his approach. Later releases like 'O Hip-Hop da Periferia' and 'Resistência' kept that focus on social issues, though authorities sometimes pushed back against his lyrics.
