MC Kesley

MC Kesley came up in Complexo do Alemão, a favela in Rio de Janeiro. He started writing and performing his own songs, drawing from the rhythmic pulse of Brazilian funk carioca. In 2017, his track 'Tropa do Cruzeiro' with MC Diego 7l and DJ Clay Beats became a breakout hit.

His music often reflects life in the favelas, with songs like 'Vida Louca' and 'Favelado Também Sofre' touching on both the challenges and the everyday realities there. He works with collaborators including DJ Batata, creating an energetic sound that's grounded in his surroundings.

Like many artists from similar backgrounds, his lyrics have drawn some criticism for their direct portrayal of favela life. He's kept to an approach that feels authentic to where he's from, using his platform to speak to those experiences.
