Mc Pixote

MC Pixote was born Márcio da Silva Monteiro in the Cidade Alta neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. His music came from that place, with lyrics that spoke plainly about life in the favelas. In 1993 he put out his first album, 'Tempos Difíceis,' and people responded to its direct, unvarnished tone.

His song 'Rap da Cidade Alta' arrived in 1998 and became something more than just a track. It described the realities of his community in a way that connected with listeners across Brazil, turning into an anthem for many. Other songs like 'Cadê o Lança?' and 'Amenizou' followed a similar path, grounded in the same environment.

He worked with a few other musicians over time, including DJ Malboro and producer Tático, and occasionally collaborated with artists like Fernanda Abreu. His records, 'Sujeito Homem,' 'O Caminho do Guerreiro', kept returning to the same themes, never drifting far from where he started.
