MC Sapão do Recife was a Brazilian funk rapper born in 1997. He gained attention in Recife with lyrics that spoke directly to the city's marginalized youth, though his explicit content often drew criticism.
In 2017, he was arrested and charged with glorifying crime after releasing the song "Tem Que Bater" featuring Mc Gw. Authorities claimed the track incited violence against women.
He died in a car accident in 2019 at age 22. Other songs in his catalog include "Mama Quero Mamãe" and "Camisa Verde e Branca."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
