Mc Suzy

Mc Suzy came out of Rio de Janeiro's streets with a sound that caught on quickly. Their track 'Corre Vacilona' broke through and got attention far beyond their home city, becoming something of a global hit for a moment. The music pulls from funk carioca and hip-hop, with other songs like 'Malandro Otário' and 'Vou Passando, Vou Sarrando' following a similar, direct style.

Their debut album was called 'Funk na Roda,' and they put out others including 'Tá Dominado' and 'Vem Dançar Comigo.' The lyrics often dealt plainly with street life, which drew both fans and critics. They worked with a DJ named Will and a percussionist called Mc Serginho, keeping the production lean and rhythmic.

For a while, their music became an anthem in certain circles, speaking to experiences in marginalized neighborhoods. The sound was never particularly polished, which was part of its appeal, it felt immediate, like something heard from a passing car or a crowded party.
