MC Taz came out of São Paulo's suburbs in the early 1990s, a duo made up of MCs Tejota and DJ Cia. They were part of that funk carioca wave, and in 1994 they put out their first album, 'Na Ponta da Língua.' The single from it, 'Deixa Rolar,' caught on fast and became a kind of national dance hit. It's the song most people still know them by.
They followed that with albums like 'Funk's Night' in 1995 and 'Um Passo a Frente' in 1997. Other tracks like 'O Filho do Dono' and 'Vem' kept their sound in circulation. Their music drew some criticism at the time for being too explicit, which wasn't uncommon for funk acts then.
By the early 2000s they were still putting out records, including 'Falar o Que Quiser' in 2003. The sound shifted a bit over those years, but they never really left that early 90s São Paulo funk behind.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
