MC T.G de São Gonçalo came out of the São Gonçalo favela in Brazil. The group's song 'Menor da Favela' connected with listeners when it came out in 2007, speaking to experiences of life in those neighborhoods. They were formed by Thiago Silva, Thiago Pereira, and Gabriel Gonçalves.
Other tracks like 'Peréreca até o Chão' and 'Complexo do Fundão' are part of their catalog. Their music drew criticism from some who felt it played into stereotypes about favela life, but it found an audience regardless.
They put out albums including 'Minha Vida, Minhas Regras' in 2008 and 'Tudo ou Nada' in 2010. The work resonated with many young people in similar circumstances.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
