MC Tigerrrrr

MC Tigerrrrr, born Marcio Jose Costa Rocha, came up in Rio de Janeiro. His track 'A Arte de Derrubar' from 1999 became a Brazilian rap staple, known for its direct lyrics about police and government. Other songs like 'Morro do Feijão' and 'Ronda no Cantão' followed a similar vein, speaking plainly about life in the favelas.

He put out a few more albums over the next decade, including 'Uma História de Um Favelado' in 2002 and 'Do Outro Lado do Muro' in 2006. The music kept a rough, straightforward style, with tracks like 'Fedorento' and 'Dança do Kbeça' circulating through local scenes. He worked with DJs Luciano and P.A. on some of these recordings.

Tigerrrrr's lyrics often touched on social issues, which sometimes drew attention from authorities. He kept recording through the 2000s, with 'A Voz de Quem Não Tem Voz' arriving in 2010. The music never really smoothed out its edges, staying close to the streets it came from.
