Mc Tupan

Mc Tupan came out of Rio de Janeiro's favelas, where baile funk has its roots. The trio includes MC Pedrinho, MC Kevinho, and MC Davi. Their track "A Noite É Nossa" became something of an anthem, capturing a certain energy that resonated locally and eventually found listeners further out.

Their music sometimes ran into trouble with authorities. One song, "O Baile Começou," was pulled from streaming platforms after being deemed offensive. That kind of friction wasn't unusual for the genre, and it didn't slow them down much. They kept putting out tracks like "Biscateiro" and "Gata Louca," which kept the party going.

They managed to tour internationally and play some major festivals. The sound was raw and direct, built for movement. It wasn't about polish. It was about the beat and the moment, a sound that worked just as well in a packed club as it did through headphones somewhere else.
