MC Yguana formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s with Paulo Miklos, Renato Silva, Gian Fabra, and Sérgio Dias. They put out their first album 'Porcos Famintos' in 1993. The group's 1995 album 'Esquece' shares its name with one of their notable tracks.
Each member had a distinct role. Miklos handled most of the rapping, Silva worked on beats, Fabra shaped the sound by mixing Brazilian rhythms with hip-hop, and Dias added guitar. Their lyrics often addressed social issues in Brazil.
They released another album called 'Noite Sem Fim' in 1997. The group's straightforward approach to rap, grounded in their local context, found an audience without much early support from major labels.
