Medulla Nocte

Medulla Nocte formed in Stockholm with six members: Alexander Lindbäck on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mikael Andersson on lead guitar, Johan Carlsson on bass, Max Lavén on drums, Christian Gäfvert on keyboards, and Johan Mattsson on saxophone and flute. Their sound mixed heavy guitar riffs with atmospheric keyboards and occasional woodwind touches, creating a dense backdrop for lyrics that often dealt with mental health and personal struggle.

Songs like 'Broken State of Mind' and 'Inside I'm Dying' became focal points for listeners who connected with their direct approach to difficult subjects. The band released four albums that maintained this focus, building a following around music that felt both heavy and emotionally exposed.

In 2015, Lindbäck spoke publicly about his experiences with depression and alcohol addiction, which brought more attention to the themes in their work. While some criticized their lyrics as too dark, the band generally stood by them as reflections of real experience rather than promotion.

They've occasionally been involved in mental health awareness efforts, but mostly they've kept making music that operates in that space between metal aggression and melodic introspection, with tracks like 'Deafened By The Sound Of Silence' and 'The Nervous Reaction' continuing to define their catalog.
