Mestre Fanho

Mestre Fanho formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1997. Their music mixed samba, axé, and maracatu with hip-hop and electronic touches, which gave them a different sound from other Brazilian groups at the time.

Their debut album "O Dia de Festa" came out in 2004, and the title track became widely popular. Another song people remember is "Na Beira do Cais." The band's energetic live shows helped build a following, though some critics felt they were watering down traditional styles.
