Meu Funeral

Meu Funeral formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s, with vocalist and guitarist Sérgio Gomes (Serginho) and bassist Eduardo Guimarães (Eduardo) at the core. They were later joined by drummer Fernando Lima (Fernandão) and guitarist Thiago Soares. The band emerged during a competitive time for Brazilian metal, playing rehearsals and underground shows while developing their sound.

In 1996, Meu Funeral released their self-titled debut EP, which included songs like "Meu Funeral" and "Queimando a Mufa." The music dealt with themes of death and depression, delivered with a raw intensity that connected with a specific audience. Their lyrics and stage presence sometimes drew criticism, but they maintained a dedicated following who appreciated their direct approach to darker subjects.

Over time, tracks such as "94" and "Acabou" became part of their repertoire, reflecting the band's consistent focus on heavy, introspective material. Meu Funeral's work remains a distinct part of Brazil's death metal history, noted for its straightforward exploration of melancholy themes without much ornamentation.
