Mew Mew Power

Mew Mew Power formed around vocalist Roni and guitarist Lars, with Magnus on bass and Kasper on drums. They put out their first album 'Animal Instinct' in 2003, which included the song of the same name that became their most recognizable track. The band followed it with three more albums over the next six years: 'Cross My Heart' in 2005, 'Emotions' in 2007, and 'The North Pole' in 2009.

Their sound leaned into alternative rock with Roni's vocals carrying over Lars's guitar work. Some of their other songs from that period include 'Do Bi Dancin' Night', 'Glider', and 'Hitori De Itemo'. The Spanish-language version of their hit, 'Instinto Animal', also appears in their catalog.

Early on, they dealt with financial difficulties and label rejections, touring on their own to build an audience. The lyrics on 'Animal Instinct' drew some criticism at the time for being too suggestive, though the band stood by them as part of their artistic approach.
