Mhar formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2004 with Alexandre "Xandão" Carvalho on vocals and guitar, Alexandre "Magrão" Ribeiro on bass, Leonardo "Léo" Reis on drums, and Marquinhos Vinhas on percussion. Their debut album came out in 2007, followed by the 2010 release "Blues Brasileiro."
That 2010 album gave them their signature track, "Blues Brasileiro," which blended blues with Brazilian rhythms. Other songs like "Coração de pedra" and "O Mundo É Uma Balança" show their mix of melancholy and rhythmic pulse.
In 2012, they released the album "Nação" and faced plagiarism accusations around that time regarding one of its songs. They denied the allegations. Their discography continued with "O Caminho" in 2015.
