Miaw! formed in Mexico City in 1996 with Alfredo Sánchez on vocals and guitar, Jorge Morett on bass, and Jorge "El Chiquis" Amaro on drums. They released their debut album "Sueños y Caricias" in 1998, but it was their 2003 album "El Milagro" that brought them wider attention. The single "Verónica" from that album became their breakthrough track.
After bassist Jorge Morett died in 2005, Gabriel "El Vampiro" García joined the band. They continued releasing albums including "Libres y Salvajes" in 2006, a self-titled album in 2009, and "El Origen" in 2012. Their song "Wow!" also appears among their notable tracks.
Their music drew from rock and pop with some Mexican influences, and their lyrics sometimes drew criticism from more conservative listeners. They were part of Mexico's alternative music landscape during the late 1990s and 2000s.
